Larkspur

Don't know where they came from, but there are more and more and everywhere. Early ones were pink.

Prickly Pear Cactus Flower

This particular cactus doesn't have big spines. Alas, no luck finding the identity of the blue flower from yesterday. I'll keep trying and edit when I find it. Also going to add tags to posts soon. Soon, as in my spare time...

Tiny Blue Flowers

Haven't been able to identify these, but I sure do like them. They are in shady spots.

Kisses

They look like little x's.

Pink poppy

There were the early poppies, then a bright red one, a salmon colored one that I did not get a picture of and now this pink beauty.

Bee Balm

Monarda pectinata. Horsemint. An herb. Leaves are fragrant and can be used to make an astringent. They can also be used in cooking.

Not in my yard

My friend Dalena's flowers. She gave me a couple of these. I planted them. They grew nicely, but the deer loved them. I'll try again in a protected area.

Indian Blanket

Gaillardia Pulchella. Herb. Tea made from the root is good for gastroenteritis.
There's a nice sized area of these flowers near the path to the back of the property.

Rosie

This rose. Every blossom is just like this one and ready to great visitors to my front door.

Figs

There are going to be so many. The squirrels and deer don't bother them. The birds eat some, but barely noticeable. Birds are cool. Squirrels and deer are not.

One year ago

Swallowtail butterfly. "Common" to our area, yet I rarely see them. I came home from Suzy's - devastated. This butterfly, with what seemed to be a broken wing was next to Paul's boat. Picked it up. Put it in the garage floor, took a pic, went inside for a minute, came back out and it was gone. I'm not religious and don't believe in ghosts. I DO believe our world is connected. I DO believe in a certain synchronicity that we have to be open to. I have more. Later.

Kamut

A very ancient wheat. It can legally only be grown organically. I threw a few grains into the yard and they have grown really well. Maybe I could get enough to grow to squeeze out the weeds.

Cornflower

Centaurea Cyanus. Also known as bachelors button. A native of Europe. Don't know how it ended up in my yard, but I'm good. It's gorgeous! Apparently it is on the endangered species list in the UK because of intensified agriculture and herbicides. It is down to three sites from 264 50 years ago.

Tillandsia recurvata

Ball moss. Not a parasite, as many believe, it's an epiphyte. And it's not a moss either. It's a flowering plant; a member of the bromeliad family (which includes pineapples), and is extremely hardy. It absorbs water and nutrients through its leaves and the leaves get all of this from the air. Amazing!!!

Seed saver

Texas Yellow Star seeds. Yes, I'm saving them. Bluebonnets and poppies too. So many people read this blog, so if you want seeds, be sure to leave a comment 😜

Poppy plus

Look at this!  Either another variety or just a late bloomer. This red should be a lipstick color for vamps.

Fireflies

Finally got somewhat decent pics. I LOVE seeing these guys at night.

More Night

My yard is beautiful in daylight. At night, it's another world that can't be well captured in photos. It's a place for fairies and such.
